Message :I would put that kind of money towards one that is in better condition.
: As you might have seen this last week I've been digging around looking for a Z in the SF Bay Area.
: I'm not trying to pay too much as these cars are getting old and replacing this is expensive.
:(Unless of course it looks well kept and the mileage is right)

One I looked at is a red 90 TT T-Top @ 132k miles.
:The paint looks like I'd need to buff it, that coupled with the black window/door trim peeling tells me it's been in the sun a while.
: There aren't any exterior mods, and the sun made the spoiler look like a lumpy old woman.

Mechanically, he says it needs;
:- the injector connectors (It idles like shit and likely barely goes anywhere
:- Power steering pump (Turning the wheel while parked it quickly turns then again meets resistence)
:- It needs a catback (At least), there are no mufflers, the pipe in front of them rusted so bad he twisted them off.

Cosmetically,
:- Rear spoiler as mentioned is toast
:- BOTH Driver and pass seats are toast. They need re-skinned
:- all inter panels look good, just need to replace trunk lifters.

He says he was good friends with the last owner.
:The Carfax says it was auctioned in 93. (in TX)

The title is a Washington state one, and I'm worried that
:the CA emissions could be a problem and would likely replace the CATs just in case.

I don't think Zs are cheap clunkers, and I plan on doing a little work on whatever I get.
:That being said, he wanted $4k, I talked him down but he won't go under $3500.
: I just worry that after I spend $1k on exhaust, $300 on Steeering Pump, and $50-$400 on a harness that the motor still has underlying problems I can't see til it idles again.

If this doesn't sound right I'm more than willing to head the advice. :-)

Thanks as always for the help.
